I have been interested in understanding how to predict baseball games for a while. In Bill James books, he provides you with the theories that have revolutionized how we follow stats in baseball; this book does the same with how to use mathematics to bet on baseball. With a number of methods and mathematical equations, this book helps you develop strategies to think of how the game is played and how to win. It can be kind of quirky as it makes you think outside of the box, but it is a quick, fun read that had me implementing each equation as I came across each chapter. The same book exists all over under different titles and different author names. It's all the same guy. Says it all.
Since I bought this book I've turned on many of my friends and family members to this author. Fortunately, I have enough time to sit down and carefully consider his trademark "progression/regression theorem" and by comparison to similar books I've purchased this one is light years ahead of its time. I've never been able to communicate directly with an author, but this author makes himself accessible and was able to offer further advice and suggestions that helped me turn quite a profit betting on MLB. I've recently bought a few of his other books and was particularly impressed with his analyses pertaining to horses and pro-football.Football Betting the Tuttle Way Tease Me and Please Me A Book for the Serious Football Bettor (Volume 1) You should definitely visit his personal blog site to learn more about his strategies and this other concept he's been talking about called the "predictive scoring model". I like this book, it has practical nuts and bolts advice. It'd be a very decent foundation in MLB betting, discussing some of the keys you'd find in the now defunct Baseball-Insight series (Phil Erwin?). Betting MLB is hard work, or it is if you want to go about it in a professional manner.
I love this book. Gives you very unique ways to look at betting baseball. Can limit your risk greatly. I also love Joey's site, [...]. I have used him and his site to do very well in basketball. He has a great predictive scoring model in place. He plans to use it this year for baseball. He backtested 300 random games from last year (and only games that were -160 or better odds), and had over 80% success rate. I can't wait for the season to start! I have also found Joey to be very accessible via email, IM, or phone. He's always willing to listen, and give pointers.
